The Archduke Restaurant and Bar was built by 3 friends who shared a love of classical music. Beethoven wrote a piano trio - Opus Number 97 which he dedicated to his patron, Archduke Rudolph of Austria. This piece of music became known as the Archduke Trio. The trio of music-loving partners realised this was the perfect name for the business they were about to open opposite one of the world's leading concert halls, located in arches. Hence, the Archduke Restaurant and Bar was born! When you next come to visit us do have a look at your napkin! The music you see is indeed the first few bars of Beethoven's Archduke Trio! This has become quite a conversation piece over the years, as members of world orchestras try to work out what it is over their post-concert beer! |
